Mars' DogBlog - Rocket Scientist

Here's Marianne's version of events:

"Some days I drive a Honda Element, other days an Accord. To my knowledge, Mars has never jumped into the "way back" part of the Element. I take a weight-lifting class called Deep Tone once a week and keep my soft weights in two bags in the back of the Element or the trunk of the Accord. Mars has a special toy he plays with in class stashed in one or the other of the bags. One of the bags has zippers.

"Yesterday I was driving the Element downtown and Mars was fast asleep on the floor with his nose pointed toward the air conditioning vents. Suddenly I heard a funny noise and stopped the car. No Mars! A little frantic, I said, "Mars, where are you?" and he popped up in the "way back" part of the Element. He had something in his mouth and hopped back over the seat into the middle of the car. It was his special Deep Tone toy! Now how did he remember that my weights are stored in the back of the Element and that his toy is in one of the bags? And how did he unzip the bag to get to it?!?"

My version of the same event:

We were in the car. I was bored. I wanted my Deep Tone toy so I hopped over the seat, found it (I have a very good nose) and jumped back into the middle of the car. What, she thinks I don't pay attention? Every week she drags her weight bags out of the car and we go to class. She pulls my toy out of one of the bags and gives it to me. When class is over she stuffs the toy back in a bag and drags the bags back to the car. Easy-peasy. Nothing to it. And zippers aren't all that difficult if you get just the right leverage and angle it just-so with your teeth. Remember, I'm the puppy who figured out how to unzip the travel crate.

Heh heh heh.

Chow for now!
