Merlin was born to a breeder of Dutch rabbits. The show quality bunnies are kept and bred or sold to other breeders. The non-show quality are sold to local pet stores. Merlin passed muster and appeared to be show quality. But as he grew one of his incisors did not continue growing correctly, which is a defect that would disqualify him from showing. His tooth grew into his upper lip and has caused an abcess. His tooth is going to require continued routine care and trimming to make sure it does not grow into his lip again.

Merlin (as I've now named him) came in to see Dr John today and the breeder was going to have him put to sleep. Of course no caring vet wants to euthanise a 10 week old baby rabbit when he knows the tech will be MORE than willing to give him a loving home. So Merlin is now my newest addition.

In 2-3 weeks Merlin is going to be neutered and Dr John wants to try rotating the tooth and wiring it to his good tooth to try and correct the problem. Hopefully it helps.
