We're blown away by how well behaved Sam is and how quickly he's getting accustomed to a totally foreign environment. He sniffed the place out, but-- to our surprise-- hasn't made the slightest attempt to get into or chew on anything. Except for the occasional experimental paw on the couch, his manners are impeccable. Of course, every little sound is new and startles him just a bit. But he "stays" like a champ.
He clearly likes riding in the car and had a nice long sleep the whole way home:

He saw a bunny that he wanted SO badly, snaps at bumblebees as if they're treats, a garter snake made him hop around and kick up grass like a monkey (a very comical sight), and our willow bush (at top of the picture), which is lit up with solar lights at night, totally freaked him out. But after barking at it a few times, he quickly learned it was harmless:

Oh what a day for Sam! We are not sure who was more excited Sam or his new dad, Jeff.
Jeff and Kathryn have waited until the time was right to get the dog of their dreams. The time was defiantly right. When Sam and Jeff met, it was like they were long lost friends.
We are so happy for all of you.
Please send us updates.. we love them!
