Originally rescued from a " Hoarder's" home with approximately 40 other dogs and cats, unfortunately I ended up at Animal Control destined to be sold for Research!

Even though I have had a hard life I still love people and have a wonderful happy way about me. My tail is always wagging! I have many good years ahead of me but I have never been given the chance to have my own family and deserve to live out the rest of my years with peace and diginity. If you open your heart and home for me I will be your best friend and I will love you to the fullest!

Also, I have completed 4 weeks of obedience training in the Refurbished Pets of Southern Michigan (RPSM) Canine Correctional Training Prison Program and can "sit", " Shake" from any position and execute a "stand/Stay".

I have been neutered, received all my vaccinations and a micro chip. I am housebroken, walk nicely on a leash and am quiet in my crate . I am also a candidate for RPSM's Senior Care Program, therefore, if I have any minor medical needs RPSM will cover all costs.

If you think you are a good candidate to enjoy my unconditional love and give me the good life I deserve, please Complete an application at www.rpsm.us or on Petfinder under Refurbished Pets of Southern Michigan

Here are a couple of new pics of Montgomery (aka Monty/Sir Montague- don't ask how I came up with that rolleyes.gif )

The picture where he looks like he is smiling he just got done having a good romp with my other dogs - for a senior fella he has quite a lot of spunk!

Now you know how I came up with "Sir Montague" doesn't he look so dignified? laugh.gif

He looks great!
I was able to see Monty over the weekend and what a lover he is. He has so much to offer and talk about the wisdom in his eyes. He just takes everything in stride and even hangs out with the horses.
He is great a dog; I simply do not understand why more people will not consider adopting an older dog.

Give me a senior any day; they are so much easier than the younger pups, I have Ben here ( 2yrs old) and he is such a handful!

Great pictures Misty!
Doc
YEP, seniors are GREAT.

The best dog I ever adopted was a senior. I wear a small locket with his ashes in it. I wear it everyday. He is so dear to my heart.
The couple of years we had with him, were simply the best ever.

Monty had a great weekend! he is such a loving easy going guy. He could care less about fireworks or thunderstorms and in that respect is a very soothing presence for my "nervous nellie" girls. They were taking turns getting in HIS crate and he didn't mind at all.... rolleyes.gif

He is not too sure about the doggie pool yet but I discovered that he likes a good game of tug biggrin.gif he found one of my old gloves and we had a fun game playing keep away!

I told him he is getting a new bed for his crate tonight that one of our volunteers (Donna ) made for him and he is VERY excited about that!

More updates and pictures to come soon...

A couple of new pictures of Monty. He's such a funny guy laugh.gif he makes me laugh every day. This is how he drinks all the time....

He loves his new bed too! thanks again Donna

Sir Romeo Montague (aka "monty")

Oh Where Art Thou My Family?

Looking for my Juliet (or Julius rolleyes.gif ) to spend the rest of my life with, No tragic endings here!

In this most recent picture, I am displaying my "farm dog" persona laugh.gif

I like to lay in the hay.....
cathy
He is just beautiful. If I did not have 4 dogs already, Monty would be living with us.
It seems because of his age he keeps getting over looked.
It is so sad, because he is just an easy going fellow who needs a good home to spend the rest of his YEARS. Heck< with the RPSM Senior Care Program ( paying for heartworm and vaccinces the rest of his life) that is just an added bonus.. With all the love Monty has to give, in my mind he is just priceless...

Cathy, I too would adopt him, as I have four dogs myself, I love seniors, as I am one myself they are so easy to take care of, none of the puppy stuff, puppies are great but like kids you should have them when you are young. LOL!!!!

A new pics of Monty relaxing after one of our walks... he is beautiful inside and out. wub.gif I am learning that even for a senior guy he likes being active, exercise, walking etc.... so I think he would do well in an active home. He just wants to be with his"People/person" smile.gif

He's so cute! Love the pictures of him smiling with his eyes closed! rolleyes.gif

ONE BY ONE ...
One by One, they pass by my cage, Too old, too worn, too broken, no way. Way
past his time, he can't run and play. Then they shake their heads slowly and
go on their way.

A little old man, arthritic and sore, It seems I am not wanted anymore. I once
had a home, I once had a bed, A place that was warm, and where I was fed.
Now my muzzle is grey, and my eyes slowly fail. Who wants a dog so old and
so frail?

My family decided I didn't belong, I got in their way, my attitude was wrong.
Whatever excuse they made in their head, Can't justify how they left me for
dead. Now I sit in this cage, where day after day, The younger dogs get
adopted away.

When I had almost come to the end of my rope, You saw my face, and I finally
had hope. You saw through the grey, and the legs bent with age, And felt I still
had life beyond this cage. You took me home, gave me food and a bed, And
shared your own pillow with my poor tired head.

We snuggle and play, and you talk to me low, You love me so dearly, you want
me to know. I may have lived most of my life with another, But you outshine
them with a love so much stronger. And I promise to return all the love I can
give, To you, my dear person, as long as I live.

I may be with you for a week, or for years, We will share many smiles, you will
no doubt shed tears.

And when the time comes that God deems I must leave, I know you will cry
and your heart, it will grieve. And when I arrive at the Bridge, all brand new, My
thoughts and my heart will still be with you. And I will brag to all who will hear,
Of the person who made my last days so dear.

I know Sherri, I think a lot of people are passing him over because he is older.... He has a lot of good years left. I would keep him myself if I could. sad.gif

Well you made me cry again Sherri. Everytime I read that poem and get to the last few sentences, I tear up. I too can endorse older pets.
