Dear Kevin and Kathye,
I have the worst possible news about our beautiful girl Zoey. About 2
weeks ago her tongue swelled (probably from eating bees and getting
stung) which started a horrible chain reaction. Eating and drinking
were, of course, difficult which meant that her kidney and blood
numbers nosedived. Over the past weekend she took a very bad turn and
her kidneys started failing rapidly. Our vet sent her to an emergency
referral service who did absolutely everything they could to save her
but on Monday afternoon, she went into cardiac arrest and we had to let
her go. They found that her kidneys had shrunk to "cat-kidney-size" via
ultrasound so even if they had been able to bring her back around, it
may not have been for a long period. We are completely broken-hearted
to lose her. I still can't believe my lovely Zoey is gone at only four
years old. I'm so sorry to have to pass such bad news on to you but I
knew you'd want to know. She touched so many lives while she was with
us and we're all so sad.
Willow and Sage are looking for her but are, as usual, pretty focused
on each other and seem to be accepting her absense with just a little
confusion. We're so glad to have them, especially now. We can see
Zoey's influence on them each day. We were all so lucky to have her in
our lives. Thank you again for being there to rescue her. We miss her
so much.
Hope all is well with you and your crew,
Pattie and Tim Dooley
Run free young girl. You have touched us very much.
