Here is a list of the obedience skills your dog can perform, and the commands necessary to get him/her to perform them:

· Sit Command – Verbal - “Sit”. Hand Signal : Raise left hand, palm up from side to front, stopping when hand is parallel to the ground, while saying “sit”. Dog should sit from any distance and from any position.

· Down Command – Verbal – “Down”. Hand Signal: Using left or right hand, hold hand out palm down, and with arcing motion, drop hand 10-12 inches, while saying “down”. Dog should lie down and look to you for next command.


· Stay Command – Verbal – “Stay”. Hand Signal: From side of dog, flash hand in front of dog’s face, palm open, fingers tips pointing down, palm toward dog’s face, while saying, “stay”. Dog should stay from sit or down position.

· Heel Command – Verbal – “Heel”. Hand Signal: With dog at your left side, move straight left arm, palm opened, facing forward, from behind left thigh, to front, while saying “heel”.


· Up and Off Commands – Verbal – “Up/Off”. Hand Signals: Dogs are trained to jump onto/into objects, and to jump off/out of object. Simply point to where you want the dog to be, while giving the verbal command to either jump “up”, or get “off”.

· Front Command – Verbal – “Font”. Point two fingers down in front of waist, saying “front”. Dog should come to your front, from anywhere or any position, and sit facing you, waiting for next command.


· Finish Command – Verbal – “Finish”. Hand Signal: With left hand, one finger pointing to your, left hip (side), saying, “finish”. Dog should come to your left side, from anywhere or any position and sit looking to you for your next command.
