Please don't read any further if you don't want to listen to an amature's trivial snivling.
I am actually looking for a tiny bit of encouraging words or helpful advice (on rescue/re-homing). Both would be appreciated.

I have been helping my Step Dad look for a new home for his 21 year old Cockatiel (i'm doing all the work, he gets the updates and gives me feedback.) Well a couple weeks ago i thought the perfect canidate e-mailed me. She had tons of knowledge, owned many herself, doesn't breed them, is there for them all day long, offered me lots of advice on health, and e-mailed me almost every other day, sometimes everyday. Then as of last week i stopped hearing from her. I finally got a reply and she said her MS was flared up and her last litter of pups had finally arrived. (Was a breeder, but decided she and her dogs were ready to retire.) I figured that was fine, but i gave it a couple more days then i looked up her phone # and tried calling. When i got the call back the person on the other end said that was her name, but she knew nothing of me or a cockatiel. (not a common name, and a very small town.) Then i get an e-mail last night from the person, saying she can't do it because her father is terminally ill and she has to help her mother care for him. All seems logical and i gave my blessings, concerns, and prayers. However something "just doesn't seem right" and i have a vary bad feeling i've been "taken for a ride". grrr. Only two things i could think of is that i have been lied to, or the real K.W/D. has an imposter out there in the cyber world! yikes! (i've known people who it's happened to.)
I'm so frustrated! I spent at least three weeks involved with checking this person out, she seems excited, then bails on me! ...hmmmm... what makes it even more suspicious, but i almost forgot to mention... it happened after i asked for references... even though she offered to in the beginning. *SIGH* ...and i don't want to be saying this is a bad person if she really is telling the truth. ...but it's so hard when the signs point to stuff.
Now had to make some hard decisions in who to ask next. i.e. a decent home, or the only other great home, that i just consider too far away for this little guy.
I would just post another ad on Petfinder, but even though my sDad said i had all the time in the world before, things have changed and it needs to happen soon (or the bird goes to a pet store.) I don't want him going to a rescue, he needs to go to a forever home.
Well, i have to leave for work VERY soon, so i have no time to edit this. This is my venting, as produced by my fingers.
Thanks for listening,
a very high strung, on edge ~Crow~
