WAPAKONETA, Ohio (AP) - Police in western Ohio say a K-9 police dog attacked an officer today, biting him in the face.

A police report says the dog bit Officer Calvin Schneider as he leaned over the dog to open a door.

Police say Schneider suffered lacerations to his lower lip and on the bridge of nose.

Wapakoneta police Lieutenant Barry Truesdale says this was the second biting incident involving the dog.

Schneider was treated at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys and was expected to be back on duty tomorrow.

Police say the dog, whose name is Adam, is under a 10-day quarantine.
