Belle was found as a stray, she is only 30 lb and she should weigh 6o to 80 . How could any one do this to such a sweet Irish settler. Belle is approximately 8 years old and she loves cats, children and everyone.

She had whip worm and round worms and Shiawassee humane society is working very hard to put some needed weight on this girl

The test results back on belle. She is severly anemic, her white blood cell count was high, but her liver and kidneys are not damaged. We did a heartworm check, and unfortunately she was positive. =( She is not well enough to undergo treatment. We will give her the heartguard to stop the spreading of the heartworm. Thanks everyone for keeping her in your prayers.

EBAY AUCTION FOR BELLE
Click here to go to the auction
Here is what she needs to run it.

A description of each item (measurements, color, used or new, etc.)
and a jpeg picture. When an item is won, she will send the name and
address to whoever has the item and they can mail it out (she can also pass
on the shipping $ for that item). So be as detailed as possible when
you send her the items info. We found last time that it is much easier
to send her the info and keep the item and mail it to the winner ourselves.
For the shipping, you can do it one of two ways. As she says, she can
send you the $ for the shipping, or you can donate the shipping as part
of the fundraising. The way that I figure it, if you were shipping the
item to Cat for the auction, you would have shipping costs anyway.
Why not just ship to the winner and let the fundraiser have the shipping
that the buyer pays too? But that part is up to you.

Items should be in great shape obviously, and the really important part
to remember is that once a winner has paid for the item, it needs
to ship out to them right away! We got all great feedback the last
time from the winners on the quality of the items and the fast shipping.
Lets keep it up. We don't want any negative feedback.

Cat also needs a description of what the money is for...a
little info about the two dogs. Can the groups that have them write
up just a quick little heart breaking blurb?

Everything that Cat needs should be emailed to her at:
cpfent@yahoo.com

I really want to give a big THANK YOU to Cat for doing this.
It is a lot of work and she did an incredible job the last time
that she did this for us. We can raise alot of money towards
these two dogs if we work together. I would like to make
this an ongoing project for special dogs that the list members
have. I think it is another way to bring us all together.
Now I am off to get things to sell!

Just got back from taking Belle to the vet. The good news, shes up from 34.2, to 43.3 pounds now. Bad news, she is not in the 1st stages of heartworms like we origionally thought. She is in stage 3. She will need immediate heartworm treatment, inorder to have more than a 50/50 chance to survive. We have an appointment for monday to start treatment. We will keep you posted. Thank you all for helping with her, she and I really appreciate it.

It is so horrible that anyone could neglect a dog like that. I'll continue to keep Belle in my prayers. So sorry to hear how aweful of condition she is in.

After three years of taking good care of my rescue i had almost forgotten how skinny he was when i got him. i didn't forget that he was... just what he looked like. After ten years of living like that i'm surprised he didn't have stuff like heartworms and all the other nasties. a flea allergy and fly eaten ears were the worst we had to take care of.
Being reminded of the bad helps not take the good for granted. Also the flame of enthuasim to help do good is given the chance to burn bright. Many people think the world is perfect and never know there are dogs out there like Belle. pictures really help drive the image home.

King and i are hoping the best for Belle!

Hi jane- and everyone -
Belle is in misserable shape. She is in lots of pain, and the vet said that if shes not going to make it, she will pass away this week, if shes not strong enough to complete the treatment. PLEASE pray for her.

UPDATE FROM SHIAWASSEE HUMANE SOCIETY:

Belle, is doing wonderfully once again. She was in a little rocky state the
first few days after the heartworm treatment, but is now doing her little "I
am a happy dog" gap tooth and all dance. =)
she will have her 3rd and final heartworm treatment, on March 9, and go to
her forever home on the 15th, pending the recoop from the treatment.
crow_noir
Just wondering if anyone has heard an update on Belle. I've been trying to be patient, but i'm getting anxious. I'm sure there was going to be an update on March 10th or 11th... but that just seems like so far away... and in her condition it seems like each day makes a difference. I was grateful to hear she was doing well in the last update, but who knows what could have happened in 10 days.
Barbara Z@Advnet.net
How is Belle doing? I have been following her and last known that she was coming along quite well. Any updates. She deserves only the best! BarbaraZ (St. Clair, Mi).

Belle is still in need of prayers she has her final heartworm treatment on March 9

Update from Shiawassee

Belle went to her new home this morning. What a wonderful home it is too. She has another Irish Setter sibling, and a German Shorthair pointer sibling, whom I know she will enjoy playing with. Her new parents are retired, and will give her the time and love she deserves. They brought a "goody" bag with them for her, stuff to keep her occupied on the long journey home. She grinned at them with her gap tooth smile, and I know in my heart that was her way of telling me she was greatful for us finding her new home.
I know you all helped with her medical costs, and keeping her in your prayers, and Belle and I want to thank you all from the bottom of our hearts.
I have enclosed a few pics of belle and her new parents.
Thank you everyone

TO ALL THAT HAVE BEEN PRAYING FOR OUR BELLE.
Belle is now in her forever home, and doing great.
She gets along very well with her Irish Setter sister
Shannon and her English Pointer sister Annie, and
her worrys are over as far as love, medical care, food and
comfort. There is no place in our home or piece of
furniture other than the dining table that the girls are
excluded from and Belle due to her age and condition
gets a bit extra. We have had Irish for 35 years, and
our Belle is a welcome addition to our home.
Thanks again to all of you, and a VERY SPECIAL THANKS
TO AMANDA AT S.H.S. , FOR BEING BELLE'S GUARDIAN ANGEL.
Sherri

AN UPDATE ON BELLE.
Belle went to our vet today, was checked out throughly.
we also had tests run for Heart Worm and all of the
other worms that she had. She is negative for
parasites ! of any kind.
Amanda, S.H.S. and the vet that they use did a
great job for Belle, and she has gained 4 pounds
since her last heart worm treatment.
Thanks again for all of the prayers and donations
that you have made for Belle's care.

This is so great to hear Belle is doing so wonderful. In the beginning i was worried that she wasn't going to make it, and now she has a wonderful home, she's parasite free, and gaining weight! biggrin.gif

The rewards will be endless.

Oh happy days!!!

I can't wait to tell my friends and their prayer groups the good news!

Best Wishes for continued good health,

Happy Easter from Belle

Belle went to the vet on the 26th to be spayed and have her teeth taken care of.
We went out there 2 times on the 26th so she would know that she hadnt been dumped.
I went to pick her up yesterday morning when the vet opened she heard my voice,
and all of the time we were taking care of the paprework she was barking, and only like
an excited Irish Setter can bark and wiggle all over. Our old girl is home now, and doing just fine.
She weighs 57 pounds, a gain of 10 pounds since her first visit to our vet a little over a month ago.
She also had another parasite test and all was negative.
Thanks again to all for the help you so willing gave when Belle needed it so desperatly.

Sherri:
As you can see by the attached photo Granny looks great. She is about 65
pounds now and very active. She gets along famously with Shannon (Irish
Setter) and Annie (English Pointer), loves her daily walks and never met
a tennis ball she didnt like.
In a normal shelter she would have been put down without even seeing a
vet.
Thank God for Shiawassee Humane Society, and Amanda, KBAF and all who
donated for her care. When I showed our vet her pictures taken when she
was found he had a hard time believeing she survived. She wouldnt have
if it hadnt been for all of you.
Now, Belle has several good comfortable years left to her and I have a
constant companion that we dearly love.
Thanks again for everything you did for Belle

An update on Belle.
Belle and I go for an hour walk every day, usually early in the morning. Belle has a habit of telling the world "Hey, I am alive and enjoying every minute of it" at least once on our walk. Yesterday morning I had my camera with me sooooo
I got a picture. You would think that after being outside, cold, ill and starving a
year ago that she wouldnt enjoy the cold, rain and snow, but she loves it. I can tell by how she gets her leash and heads for the door no matter what the weather.
Now she weighs in about 78 Lbs. and is in excellent health for a setter her age, loves everyone she meets, and life in general. Just thought that some that prayed for her recovery and gave to her medical fund might be interested in seeing what they have accomplished.
Doc
what a beautiful picture
