we recenly over the holidays celebrated the 4th year we have had jessie with us. We adopted her from arda in 2000, and she has been the most wonderful, loyal friend and partner i've ever owned. super smart and very protective, excellent in the house. i can't thank arda enough for all the hard work she puts into the rescue and adoption of these animals. one problem ive had with her that is on going though is that she loves to run and she runs so hard that she beats her front legs up like a horse would and skins them. then she licks them and they become worse and i cannot break her of licking her legs and keeping the wounds from healing. any suggestions? thanks again arda! wouldnt take nothing and im coming up for another one soon

Have you tryed using bitter apple (you can buy it at most pet stores) or another suggestion is Men Strong Colonge like Old spice... They dont like the taste and it stings when they get their face near it to lick.. Also you can always use a ace bandage wrapped not to tight to keep her from breaking skin.

One problem with dobes is their lack of under coat.
