I got this article off another forum I'm a member of. Thought I'd share it. It's terrible about the owner of the dog, but at least people made sure he was safe and back home.

Truckers return poodle abandoned after murder
OKLAHOMA CITY -- A toy poodle abandoned when its owner, Mark Williams, was killed at an Oklahoma City truck stop Dec. 13, 2003, was returned to its home by truckers.
The toy chocolate poodle, Tiffany, began its journey back to William's home in Weldon, Calif., Dec. 17, 2003, to live with William's mother, Nita Williams.
Williams shared the home with his mother before his death. Nita Williams said her son and the dog were constant companions. "They were together 24/7,"
she said. "If she couldn't go into a store, he wouldn't go in."
Williams said she can't wait to have the Tiffany back at home.
"This is where she belongs, and he would have been really upset if she would have been anywhere else," she said.
Truckers who had deliveries along a route from Oklahoma City to Weldon handed off Tiffany to one another until she got home, according to police.
Authorities were able to fine out the dog's address because she was wearing a tag, Animal Welfare Superintendent Catherine English said.
Williams body was found at the Pilot Truck Stop in Oklahoma City, Dec. 13, 2003, about 6 a.m.
Julie Ann Pacheco, 35, was arrested on a murder complaint in William's death. According to his mother, Williams did not know Pacheco.
