Will You Adopt Me?

Chicago, IL – The Furry Friends Foundation, a Chicago no-kill shelter that does not discriminate based on age, breed or disability, has been looking for a special human for Posey, a petite boxer/Whippet mix, for seven years. Approximately 8 years old, Posey is housebroken, well-mannered and very affectionate. What has made it a struggle to find her a home? Posey has a little separation anxiety and would do best with someone who has a consistent schedule, and if working an 8 hour day, will make accommodations for afternoon dog walks. She also needs a secure, safe place for those times when her owner leaves the house. While she LOVES people, she is not dog or cat friendly and does not do well with small children.

The Furry Friends Foundation is a no-kill shelter, so Posey isn’t in danger of being euthanized. However, life in a cage isn’t really a life and she has become depressed over time. To quote one volunteer, “Posey isn’t the same dog anymore. It is as if her spirit is slowly leaking out of her.” As it is, Posey has probably lived more years in a shelter than she has left to live. Our worst fear is that she may never find a home.

Please note that we are not limiting potential adopters to Illinois. There are several transport groups affiliated with the shelter, who would be happy to make arrangements to transport Posey to an out-of-state adopter.
