Animal Raid Update
Charges are pending against two Minnehaha County men after the Sioux Falls Humane Society raided their home, twice. Wednesday, the Humane Society took two dogs from a home in Sherman. Thursday, they went back for more animals.

Rosey Quinn with the Humane Society says, "The poodle is the worst dog I have ever seen in the five years that I've been here. So, it was bad."

When taken from the home, a white poodle's fur was matted and covered in waste. The dog is now doing better after getting shaved and cleaned up.

"She's walking around and drinking a lot of water. She's eating a little bit. She's doing a lot better already."

The black lab taken Wednesday is also improving after a bath and some food and water.

"He's very underweight. He's going to be okay once we put some weight on him and stuff."

Thursday, the two dogs got company from their old home.

"Today we did an addendum to the warrant and went back for cats. We left the cats yesterday just for the simple fact that we needed to get the dog to the vet immediately."

The Humane Society took two cats out of the house Thursday. Both are scared, but will survive. Quinn says the home was disgusting.

"It's appalling. It's deplorable. I can't describe what it was like in there. There was feces everywhere. No running water, garbage, a lot of beer cans."

Someone worried about the pets tipped off the Humane Society to the home. Many animals who get rescued come from concerned neighbors who call.

"If you walk by someone's house and there is a urine smell coming from it and or a fecal smell coming from it, there is a problem. I would like to tell everybody, don't hesitate to call."

A father and his 24 year old son lived in the house. Their names haven't been released because they haven't been officially charged.
