I want to get Sadie into some basic obedience training. I called Pet Smart inquiering about their classes. The price for the class is $99 for once a week,
for eight weeks.

Do any of you have any experience with Pet Smart's classes? And is $99 about
the average price for these types of classes? Or do any of you recommend
a class somewhere else?

Follow this link for some very good articles about socializing your dog and
helping them over come shyness, fear and build confidence. This is exactly
what I needed to read to work with Sadie.

You can check into your local AKC Chapter. I live out in SD and was looking for a good place to go for obediance. Since we hadn't been stationed here long I didn't know where to go. Hubby works with a lady that shows her dogs and told him about the AKC training classes. She's one of the chair people I guess you call them. Dakota is now in her third class. I paid 60 for eight one hour classes (once a week) for begginers (they call it level 1).

How good your Petsmart puppy class is depends on the trainer. I've seen a couple of PHENOMINAL trainers teaching puppy classes at petsmart, but I've also seen some more mediocre ones as well.

The good news is that the training methods that they teach are, on the whole, humane and effective - you don't need to worry that you're going to get some wacko stuff. Even the mediocre trainers that I saw were still repeating good advice they'd been given, they just weren't as good at bringing it to actual implementation.
