Kathye and I drove to Dearborn Heights tonight. We just had to give Shamus his chance at stardom. Ms Naso was grateful that we would bring Shamus to see her along with her 5 year old named Rosa. Rosa and Shamus hit it off very well, as did the two kittys and the boy. Shamus made him self at home and as hard as it was, Kathye knew he picked his new family. Shamus was with us almost a year so this one was the most difficult to date.
Thank You Denise for seeing through Shamus being a black mix, and seeing the great, sweet boy he is.

Good morning Kevin and Kathye,

I wanted to let you know that we made it through the night together extremely well. Shamus is going to be called Sam. He actually seems to respond to his name already. He ate his food like a gentleman last night and this morning he had breakfast. He slept on his bed beside my bed, woke up a couple of times during the night but all in all he did great for his first night with me. He and Rosa ran around the yard yesterday playing and chasing eachother.

Today we are going for a ride to meet Macie, a friends dog. We are going to Hines park to meet and walk and play. He walks with his tail high and believe it or not his ears are up. I think my shy new boy isn't so shy afterall. He feels like he's home I think! We might venture to Petco too for some treats today.

Thanks for making the drive. I mean it when I say you can and should come back and visit us.

He let me pet his belly, twice. I noticed some scars on his belly. Do you know where those came from?

I will keep you posted on his progress.

Hello to all members,

Thank you for the letters regarding my Shamus. His new name is Sam and what a good boy he is. Thanks to Kevin and Kathye for making a two hour drive last week so I could meet Sam. I don't understand the problem people have with adopting black mixed breed dogs. Rosa is a mix and now Sam and both are great dogs. Sam came home to me and here he will stay.

I love this site and will be checking often for more happy tails.

Some people have funny ideas about the color dogs should be I guess.. We really love them all.
We also know Sam quite well as Kevin is our son. We are really glad you registered on MIRescue, that way we get to hear the "Sam report".
