"Meet Your Match…Adopt a Shelter Dog!"
Katy Bishop’s Animal Friends and the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA®) declare October to be Adopt-a-Shelter-Dog Month. While millions of dogs are adopted from shelters each year, millions more are still awaiting their permanent homes. Each dog is a unique character with his own bag of tricks. This October, come meet your match and adopt a shelter dog.
Diversity abounds at your local animal shelter. Dogs both mature and youthful, active and laid back, await new homes. Making a great match is as easy as one, two, three. One: Hold a family meeting to discuss everybody's canine expectations. Two: Read up on the breed types that catch your interest. (Check out the breed profiles in the Petfinder.com Library at www.learn.petfinder.com or in The ASPCA Complete Guide To Dogs.) Three: Go to the www.petfinder.org and meet your match! Adoption counselors will be happy to play matchmaker. Their hands-on knowledge of the canine adoption candidates is invaluable to ensuring adopters find a dog that fits just right.
Katy Bishop’s Animal Friends and the ASPCA are joined by Petfinder.com, the country's largest online pet adoption resource, in supporting this month-long celebration. During October, the following special events and offerings will be available to shelter dog adopters:
HALLOWEEN FUND RAISER FOR SPAY AND NEUTER
Halloween Fundraiser for Spay & Neuter
With the overwhelming pet population, adoptible animals are being killed for the simple fact that there is not enough homes. The only way to stop the needless killing is to control the population with spaying and neutering pets. You can help this holiday season, by joining the fun and collecting donations instead of chocolate this Halloween. Dress your pet up and instead of the traditional Trick Or Treat, Spread the word of the importance of Spay & Neuter!
Collected change or dollars from your neighbors and friends. This will not only provide much needed funds to help your favorite animal rescue or humane society, but also provide eductation on the importance of spay and neuter. Turn Halloween into a fun filled night for yourself and your pet!
