Last spring when I was 12, I finally had covinced my parents that I was responsible enough to have a dog of my very own. At the time we had four dogs but they were all too old to play any more. Those dogs belonged to my parents and I had lived with them all of my life. By summer I had decided that I wanted to get a German shepherd dog and I had found an add in the newspaper for some young puppies. That day I brought home a 2 month old female puppy I named Sadie. Sadie was the most stubborn puppy I have ever met in my entire life and definatly the worst behaved. Everything was a game to her. She was also the most timid dog ive ever met. She was even afraid of little dogs and wouldnt come within 20 feet of a stranger. Even so, everyone loved her. She just kept growing, and growing, and growing too. When Sadie was around 7 months old our rottweiller, Cheyanne, had to be put to sleep from old age. She was almost 13. Two months later I recieved the saddest news of my life. My puppy had begun to limp terribly and fell down a lot. We took her to the vet and had her x-rayed and found out that my first puppy, and best friend, had to put to sleep in a month because she had severe hip dysplasia. Everyone was sorry to see her go no matter how much they hated her for her bad behavior. On January 7, 2005 when she was almost 11 months old, she was taken to the vet and put down. These days are sad now when we come home, our house feels so empty without a young dog tearing things apart. Now, a month later, our other rottweiller, Kodiak, is also dying from old age. He has been growing worse and worse every day since his mother, Cheyanne died. Now he is almost at the end of the line. Our 14 year old beagle isnt very far behind him.
This is my german shepherd, Sadie, the day she got put to sleep. She was so spoiled that she even got to sleep on the couch! If I am to get another dog, It would have to be a german shepherd because in my opinion, even though she was the worst behaved, she was the best partner ever!
